The city of Muenster recently hosted the Action Phase Workshop focused on refining the “Guideline for Climate-Just Neighborhoods in Existing Areas”. Developed by Buro Happold, this guideline is designed as a comprehensive tool to aid Münster's administration in enhancing climate resilience and sustainability across its neighborhoods.
The primary goal of this workshop was to further develop and refine the guideline, which serves as a crucial internal resource for the city’s administration. It compiles a robust array of existing knowledge, practical implementation examples, and innovative concepts and tools. This integration facilitates a synergistic approach to climate protection and adaptation, crucial for Muenster’s existing urban fabrics.
Participants in the workshop included various city administration employees who engaged in an immersive, interactive session. They developed user stories by assuming the roles of different administrative roles, exploring the practical application of the guideline from multiple perspectives. This role-playing approach not only highlighted the versatility of the guideline but also ensured that it addressed the real-world complexities of urban management.
The workshop featured two critical discussion rounds. The first round allowed participants to provide feedback directly on the guideline, offering insights into its usability and effectiveness. The second round was geared towards brainstorming actionable strategies for implementing the guideline effectively within Muenster’s neighborhoods. These discussions were pivotal in identifying potential hurdles and opportunities in the guideline's practical application.
